Things I loved in June, from gardening to easy cucumber margaritas
Also: a candle that smells like summer, progress at the cottage, and the best texts to recieve
Hi, Happy 4th of July week! Welcome to Dream Sequence, where I share inspiration, vintage treasures, and ideas for building a home that feels like a haven of comfort - along with life in my cottage on the CT coast.
June was my first month living by the beach, and it’s been magic.
Each time I turn onto my road and see the open sky and harbor, it feels like I can breathe more deeply. It’s a haven.
Between Marketplace finds, Home Depot runs with my dad, planting my window boxes & decorating, I’ve been doing so much to get the house ready to host friends on the 4th. Slowly but surely, it’s coming together - there’s still lots I want to do, but I’m trying to not rush it and just enjoy the process (easier said than done!) Here are some progress pics:

I’ve also been making an effort to slow down and appreciate where I’m at, making my Adirondack chairs on the patio a designated restorative space: mornings with coffee watching sailboats pass, and evenings watching the sun set.
My friend Nia was my first visitor, and we shared a perfect New England weekend together. Cold wine & oysters in the sun at La Plage, kayaking, crafting margaritas, incredible branzino at Esh, and a moonlit adventure to my little beach.

Currently Loving
I’ve been getting the best sleep lately with this.
This embroidered guest book for my coffee table. I’m already collecting the sweetest messages from friends who visit.
The scent of summer.
Nia and I decided that one sip of this cucumber margarita mix instantly puts you in the best mood.
Lana’s NFR album is always my June soundtrack.
I had dreamy custom matchbooks created for the cottage (an idea from my friend Erin) - I’m so excited for them to arrive and will share when they come.
Recieving texts like this:
Honestly, there’s no better association.
I hope you enjoy the long weekend ahead; barefoot on the grass or beach, with friends and a sparkler or two.
To celebration,
Carly
